Libera #gaygeeks Guidelines - Most of these are guidelines, but a few
are rules. We don't like to ban people, and we give chances. It's difficult
to get a permaban in either channel. Please try to remember that main is
work safe, and the 18+ channel is where the overly naughty stuff goes.
- Don't be a dick - debate and discussion is encouraged, but hate
speech, antagonizing, and fighting are unacceptable. Political discourse
is allowed, but we have our limits. You can complain about your
government to your hearts content, but if your speech infringes on the
rights of others to exist and when it comes to open support of hate
groups, or people who want to infringe upon the rights and best
interests of those in the channel, you may be asked to drop the convo if
things get too heated, or kicked/banned if it starts showing that you
barely support your own rights, let alone the rights of the others in
the channel.
- Kindness matters - do I really need to go into this one?
- Embrace diversity - We have people from all walks of life, all ages
(at least in main), people of different gender identities, people who
are ace, aro, bisexual, transgender, agender, enby, pansexual, people in
ethically non-monogamous relationships, lesbians, and while rare,
straight allies. (also, we have people who are demisexual and
sapiosexual, so they may not fit into what you consider to he "normal".
We also have many people who are neurodivergent, or have mental health
conditions Transphobia, biphobia,, acephobia, homophobia, gynophobia,
etc (you get the picture) - will not be tolerated. We are an inclusive
and affirming group.
- No gawking - if you have happened on the channel by accident, and
you're straight - if you're an ally, great! If you're not, please, no
gawking. We are not amusement park exhibits, or your local glory hole.
- Don't "stir the pot" too much - it's very hard to get kicked or banned
from the channel, but continual pushing of buttons or boundaries will
eventually wear someone down.
- No bots without express permission of the ops
- Do not put the ops on ignore
- Please do not share logs publicly. You may keep your own private logs,
but if they show up on the web, it will result in a ban this includes
screenshots. If you must take a screenshot to show a problem to an op,
store it locally, and set it's expiry to 24 hours if you have to use a
pastebin/imagebin, and don't share the link with the entire channel.
text logs are preferable, especially if they are time/date stamped, so
we can compare them to our own scrollback
- There are two channels. One is safe for work, the other is 18+ - save
the naughty stuff for the 18+ channel. We have some minors in channel,
and some people who are online from work, so if you're sharing pictures
and there's some question whether it's NSFW, or NSFL, please place that
label before the link. Profanity is fine in either channel, but don't be
overly profligate with the use of it in main. if you're getting naughty,
please save that for the 18+ channel.
- No soliciting of minors, no pedophiles, and no minors in the 18+
channel
- Please, no explicit or overly descriptive mention of illicit drug
usage, especially in main, and please use a trigger warning if you
discuss it in the 18+ channel. We have people who may be at a fragile
point in their recovery process, so give people a chance to use /ignore,
leave the channel, or just be mentally prepared to do what they need to
to protect their sobriety.
- Politics - polite civil discourse about politics is allowed, but
please keep in mind if your politics are a blatant violation of #3 &
#5 - they're going to be frowned upon, particularly if those politics go
against the best interests of just about everyone in channel. You're
entitled to your own views, but if they're that divergent from the best
interests of the people in channel, might be best not to bring them up.
